The History of A.A.S.L.

In late 2002, several personal property appraisers in Saint Louis, kept running into each other at appraisal functions and antique shows or auctions.  After a few chance meetings, we learned more about each others background and noticed that our specialties were complimentary. So, instead of duplicating efforts for appraisal jobs, we decided that joining forces would allow us to service almost all appraisals, and provide a wide base for other functions like "Roadshows".

The Appraisers Association of St. Louis was formed in 2003 by this group of personal property appraisers.  The founding members were seeking a professional support network for their trade, which was not available through their respective national appraisal organizations.  The AASL founders were seeking regular interaction and furtherance of their professional endeavors within their home city of  St. Louis, Missouri.  After several informal meetings, the potential for a St. Louis based personal property appraisal organization was realized and AASL began.

Members meet regularly, often attending auctions, museums, estate sales, antique shops, and fairs.  In an effort to promote our trade and give back to the community, AASL members provide substantially discounted appraisal services to area organizations.  These Antique and Collectible Appraisal Fairs often serve as fundraisers for local not-for-profits.

AASL members have provided services or are scheduled for Appraisal Fairs at the following organizations: Missouri Baptist Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, St. Margaret of Scotland School, Southwest Garden Neighborhood Association, St. Louis Alumnae Pan-Hellenic Association, Meramec Bluffs Senior Village, St. Mark’s Church City of Florissant, and St. Louis County Parks.
